A gentle dam is formed over a specific area of the body and filled with warm, medicated oil, which is held in place to penetrate deeply — nourishing the tissues, easing stiffness, calming the local nervous system, and supporting the body's natural healing. Basti is wonderful for lower-back tension and stiffness (Kati Basti), neck and shoulder tightness (Greeva Basti), and achy or overworked knees (Janu Basti), among other areas. It's grounding, pain-relieving, and especially valuable for anyone carrying chronic tension or the daily wear of stress in the body.
